ok so im off back to uni for another 9 weeks this coming sunday, and I have a few ps2 games (e.g. ff12) that i want to play whilst there. I will have my desktop pc and laptop but bringing a tv along is out of the question, theres no room and I would need a liscence.

Are there any cables around to play a ps2 on a pc screen?? also would it be any good as my pc screen does 1440x900 and a ps2 is only 640x480 (ithink)

Thanks in advance

You'll need a VGA box to convert the signal, or... do you have a video in on your graphics card ? , composite or possibly s-video ? If so, I for a while ran my ps2 into my pc and ran it through media player classic maximised, no additional expense except a phono to 3.5mm adaptor for the sound.

Do you have the manual ? chances are that black socket is either s-video or a plug for a breakout box, if its the latter you should have a box and cable with various video connections on it lying around somewhere, but check the manual first.

basically you need to:

Check what sorts of connections you have available, pick one that you have a cable for the ps2 for.

Make sure you have WDM drivers for your card installed.

Download Media Player Classic.

Run the ps2 into the favoured connection and then run media player classic, its been a while since I last used it and I dont have my pc available so I'm afraid I cant be of much help here, which is a nuisance.
IIRC you just have to choose the correct capture device and run a preview of it and then set media player classic to full screen if you desire.

cant find manual
i think i got the right cable (theres 2 very similar ones that came in the box). ps2 is turned on and plugged into pc but im not getting anywhere at the mo

ive just installed the latest ati driver but CCC wont load some error
EDIT: ok got it working in classic media player, however there is a lot of fuss and the colors are screwed (its set to UK pal) and its gone to widescreen

Theres a bunch of input options for the video capture hidden away in the media player but I'm damned If I can remember where they are.

the media player i got (9 series) wont pick up the signal. the classic media player does though. just downloading wdm drivers, 121mb

Think theres somethign wrong there, also if you got a signal on media player classic, the chances are that the wdm drivers are already installed, they certainly are if you could choose the capture device in media player classic.

You don't need a license unless you watch uk broadcasts on it, which they can't prove.

Vivo is not ideal, it creates a delay between pressing the button and the action happening on screen.
