Hi, my friends ps2 has given up the ghost and refuses to turn on. Its a launch model from like 2000 and its fatter than my wifes sister

So he wants a new one. How much do they retail for now a days? I remember one of those crappy american supermarks was selling them for £50? is that still the case?
 
You could have gone to any online retailer and simply looked, but you opted to come onto OcUK and ask other people?
That's incredible that you'd do that... really, it is.

£65 I saw a slimline one online after looking for about a minute.
 
I tried but the only one i looked at sold wees and 360s.

I think he'd rather by from a highstreet retailer anyway
 
Still a great console - so many great games to choose from - but yeah, save your pennies and get a PS3 - you can still play all your PS2 games, but you'll also have a media streamer, Blu-Ray player and apparently it also plays games!

Not unless he pays through the nose for an old 60GB model he won't, as the 40GBs have no PS2 backwards compatibility at all. Even then the 60GB's compatibility isn't 100%.
 
When i say £500 i was referring to the fully backwards compatible PS3s that were only released abroad. He said play ALL ps2 games, and the emulated backwards compat PS3s won't play ALL :p
