PS3 3 beeps

Everyone's PS3 beeps on shutdown AFAIK.
Maybe once if I remember correctly but not 3 short beeps
Well mine is always three short beeps AFAIR.
edit: When you turn the console off by actually getting off your arse and pressing the button located at the front of the console it beeps 3 times. But when you shut it down with the controller it doesn't beep.
Hopefully someone who is actually beside their PS3 can shed some light.

My PS3 only beeps 3 times when there's something using the hard drive.
I will then have to press it again to turn it off.

This generally occurs when either as others have stated the system has stopped responding for whatever reason ( game crash / lockup etc ) and the system is forced to shut down or if the system is still working on shutting down certain programs in the background and the hdd is still being accessed.
Don't think it is any cause for concern although this only happened to me in a few cases it has only happened when I have shut it down by holding the power button manually rather than doing it through the xmb.
If your still concerned ring sony, if it is a fault they will send a courier with a replacement console to your door to exchange with your current model ( which I personally think is the best customer service going in the industry in terms of hardware issues )

You only get 3 beeps as far as i know if you press the off button while its already shutting down. So for example shut the PS3 down from the controller then press the off button.
May be eject button also if there isnt a disk in the drive.

Mine usually beeps once.
Sometimes however, it will seem to be taking a longer than usual time to shut down... and then it'll beep three times before turning off.
I'd always just assumed it was busy doing something in the background, and waited a while before forcing a shutdown.
Does seem to depend on what I was doing before, like if I drop straight out of a game, and try to shut down immediately, it may take longer and beep three times, as opposed to just using the XMB, where it shuts down quickly with 1 beep.
