Guys,

Just been looking at FIFA on both the PS3 and 360 and the graphics on the 360 look a lot better, I don't know if this is a connection difference on my TV or that it's the game itself?

Ever since I put my PS3 onto my 26" Samsung, I've thought that the graphics look rather "pixelly" and not very smooth, loading up FIFA 09 has confirmed this for me.

My Xbox 360 is connected via VGA, the PS3 is connected via HDMI. (1080i)

Here are two comparison shots on FIFA, obviously it's hard to take a picture of this with a normal camera.

Is there anything I can do to improve the graphics on the PS3, it frankly looks crap to me :(

I would run the PS3 at 720p - don't think it will make much different mind you.

Have you got any other games for comparison?

I tried 720p, it made no difference.

I don't have any other games to compare, but even on the PS3 dash and on Home etc the graphics are not very smooth at all.

You have to remember VGA smooths the appearance while HDMI like DVI gives a much more starker representation.

Its why some people prefer VGA over DVI/HDMI, even though its technically inferior...

1080i is nasty for game, always use 720p. VGA on the 360 has a softer look to it, lowering sharpness on the hdmi input would have the same effect as using the vga cable on the 360.

Not that Im aware of due to HDCP I guess...

Afraid its a trait of digital connections - it will always look crisper, but also shows up blemishes really easily :( - most annoying thing really.

BTW whats up with the colour on the 3rd pic? Definitely choose 720p over 1080i though...

EDIT: Actually that 3rd pic has quite a bit wrong with it - perhaps its the jpg reduction, but the saturation is way too much, moire patterning or something on the sky and the pitch in distance - really looks odd compared to the other pics (4th looks like the other 2 other than jaggies, which afraid is the bane of the PS3)

They look the same except there's hardly any colour in the PS3 shots, perhaps turn up the colour on your HDMI channel a bit.

Thet's the camera problem but there is a big difference me viewing it here.

I turned the sharpness down and it looks a lot better anyway. Thanks!
