I cant seem to find any specifications for ps3 3d other than that it needs a so called 3d tv. but i thought the ps3 played games at 30fps so therefore it would only need a 60hz tv to play in stereoscopic 3d if it works the same as the pc version. does anybody know anything about how it works.

The PS3 plays games at all kinds of speeds. Some are locked to 30, others 60, others fluctuate all over the place. There is no getting around the fact that to play the 3D games and 3D films, you'll be needing a 3D tv.

In addition, you need to know that games like Wipeout and Super Stardust which are both 1080 in 2D are now only 720 in 3D because of the extra processing power needed. That'll hit other games just as much.

Isn't wipeout HD not full 1080 HD? Thought it was something stupid like 1280 x 1080 its stretched across the screen?

Not that many games on PS3 that run full 1080 HD. If any?? Think GT5 prologue is..

Wasn't there a list of Ps3 games and the FPS and res and AA levels they used? think it was on wiki actually..

As for PS3 3D.... Hmmm we'll see.

Wipeout HD is mostly 1080p, what it does do is drop the res slightly if the screen gets busy to avoid letting the framerate drop below 60fps. This technique is pretty much unnoticable when the game is in motion as the game will usually only drop to a lower res for less than a second.

GT5:P isn't full HD, it's the resolution you thought Wipeout HD was.

as said in the other ps3 3D thread, the effect is pretty stunning tbh, yes you do need a 3D telly as the tv combined with the glasses do all the work, wipeout does make you feel nauseus(sp) for the first few mins, motorstorm looks amazing, and pain gives a good sense of flying over the buildings with the depth it gives.

i think the way stereoscopic works it each image is half resolution which when combined by the lenses makes it hd, and it works very well.
