PS3 4K Support?

Whats this im hearing about 4k support for the ps3, my mate is telling me its going to come out but i aint heard about it once. Is this true, or has nothing been confirmed.

EDIT: Delete this thread, i just looked at the page more closely and lol'd my ass off, $25k to buy it, then 4096 x 2160 resolution............

I was under the impression it was going to make the graphics better or something.

PS: im not trolling it was a genuine question but i just looked at it now............my mate has a vivid imagination and forgot to give me the pricing and what it was.

to view 4K content you need a 4K TV or projector

pointless until 3D becomes mainstream enough for the TV's to advance to higher resolutions

Why would 3D advancement matter on resolution increases? 3D is niche (in its current form) to say the least, something like 4k or 21:9 is far more likely to interest more consumers...
