Hi,

I've been given a PS3 by a customer to fix, its getting error 8002F1F9 with a firmware update error. I've tried putting a blank hdd in, re-downloaded the firmware on a usb, entered recovery mode and reinstalled it but still getting the same issue,

any ideas?

mmm no... the same way I dont get paid by helping members with other technical questions, thats the point of forums.

Sorry if that sounded harsh, wasn't meant to come over like that.

If you have tried everything relating to a new HDD/old HDD/formatted HDD/recovery menu then chances are it's not salvageable.

Sorry I cant help but to get this straight you offer services to fix other peoples consoles and your not actually tech savy enough to fix them yourself and so you come to forums to get help to fix someone else consoles so you can be paid for offering a service you cant actually offer correctly in the first place.

Lol if you make a living out of this I am impressed lol. I may try it myself haha

What's wrong with asking for help when someone has exhausted availible options

Leave him be.

Im just saying I fint it amusing that he offers services to fix things but he cant actually fix them. You wouldnt get a man from the AA come to you to help your car at the roadside and then see him on forums trying to find a solution. You generally know things yoruself. Im not having a go I think its pretty funny and hat off to him if he can be paid for doing something he has no idea about lol

Actually you would be surprised how many mechanics do use forums for advice, I run my own IT company, I have been a developer, designer, trainer and support for hospitals around the UK before I started my own business.. this is a new error on me, I've fixed other issues before without issues I just want to know is it worth spending more time on it or should it be written off and not looking for arguments.

I have used a new HDD, new USB + latest download and it still fails so to me the issue sounds like the flashing of the firmware to firmware chips.

thanks JoeBoi but thats what I've already done but its still failing, I'm going to give it back as unfixable, I've aready spent about 4 hrs on it and the customer isnt likely going to want to spend more than £50 to fix it..typical..

Another thread said somebody pulled out the HDD @ 3% whilst updating then replaced it with the original have you tried that?
