I'm looking for a upgrade to the dual shock 3, I think I want something thats like a xbox pad (much prefer the xbox ergonomics) but not sure.

I saw THIS one which looks awesome https://www.google.co.uk/search?num...0.134.872.12j1.13.0...0.0...1ac.1.-4sLNwOBiGM

...but reviews complain about the dpad being dodgy and unresponsive.

Then there's the speedlink xeox which looks ok not as nice aesthetically as the powera, and OCUK sell it http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GC-003-SL

Anyone have any opinions on the xeox? I thought might be good as a pad for the pc aswell but apparently xbox controller enabled games don't detect it as a xbox pad :(

There's also many many thrustmaster pads, too many to mention anyone have a good experience with those?

Or there is the option of modding the dual shock 3 with grips and new triggers...would that be a better option?

Thanks.

Also a benefit of buying a new controller would be...I would have two controllers.

So I could play splitscreen games.

It doesn't sound like you want to "upgrade" your DS3 but get one like the Xbox.

The one's you've mentioned are not very well made and therefore not an upgrade. If it's just an Xbox pad on the PS3 that you're looking for then maybe look at the XCM adaptors but they are quite expensive and you also need the Xbox pad.

If you really want an "upgrade" then take a look at the Scuf Gaming range :

Power A is an awful pad, i bought one and have never used it since trying when it arrived, the analougues have massive dead zones, the triggers stick in and get noisy, and the dpad is horrendous.

The only good PS3 pad is the DS3.

I popped some rubber caps i bought from tesco over the stick tops which give better grip and its much better.

You might want to double-check the one you end up buying has Sixaxis as some games require it (though games that use it aren't *as* common these days, just a handful of PS3 exclusives).

What are they, modded ds3 pads?

Or pads made to look like the ds3? I'm a bit confused it just seems to be a ds3 pad with a design on it.

Basically yes they are modded DS3's but they are not like the Rapid Fire mods that people usually think of.. these are just enhanced versions and can be used in Tournaments etc.

They have back paddles which can be used for X or O, better buttons, longer thumb sticks for more accuracy, grip etc. Have a look at the videos on their site or on Youtube.

been asked a few times recently, all the alternative pads are either far too expensive or dodgy in one way or another.

You'r best bet is to get the palm grips that bulk the pad out a bit and are far more comfortable (imo), otherwise you just need to learn to live with it.
