To get online do i need to buy one of those wireless adapters like you do for the 360?

Also, people say online play is better on Xbox.. how?

Ben.

Nope :)

xbox has more people online which is a reason its better

also something about you can go on the menu without closing your game down

Nothing additional required, you have an Ethernet Port and Wireless LAN built into your PS3.

People say Xbox Live is better than Playstation Online because it has more of a community feel to it, and you have features such as In-Game Messaging which for the majority of PS3 games is not available. (It's built into some by the Devs)

Having said that, some games on PS3 use dedicated servers, where as to the best of my knowledge this is not the case on the 360.

Sony aim to have equaled the functionality of Xbox Live! by the end of the year which hopefully means they'll be on par... whether they'll manage it or not is a different matter for a different thread.

Hmm think il hang on then.. in the meantime looks like i can burn my pocket on the Asus Eee. :D

you could alway get one, then trade it in if you do not like it, rather than just wasting your money, not saying the aus e pc is not good, but i rather have my xbox but that just me

See now i really want one of those Asus eees too. But there is no way i would trade my PS3 for one. The online on the PS3 is by no means bad, i would say on par with the PC, maybe even slightly better due to a unified friends list and a more integrated voice chat system.

The only reason the PS3 is behind the 360 in terms of online is because the 360 simply surpasses anything else. The some of the single player games the PS3 offers blow away anything i've touched on the PC in the past year and games like MGO and GTA4 go a long way towards showing that its online community is only getting stronger.

For me, consoles are currently the best medium for enjoying computer games, this is a rather large statement considering how long i have felt PCs were the be all end all.

It matches the best method of online play you can have then? ;) You cant seriously be saying the 360 is better online than a PC, sorry, its just not. Laggy crappy constantly dropping out servers hosted by other users that are not dedicated servers, lack of server list on many games forcing you to join what the game gives you along with low quality voice. No match for Vent/Skype/Teamspeak and a good dedi server.

The PS3 online is perfectly acceptable, but lacks a lot of features at the moment. Online itself is fine, generally pretty lagless (dependant on whos hosting, unfortunately a lot of games use user hosted games insteadfo good dedicated servers) and the sound quality on comms is by far better than that of the 360, BUT....you cant access your menu bar in games, so you cant start a private chat in the background of a game, other than taht they are pretty similar, you join a server and are added to that servers comms, and to join a mate online they send you an invite, which you then accept to follow them into a game.

Online on the PS3 is by no means bad, its just not on par with the 360 just yet with what it can do.

ps3 is a brilliant online experience

the only game i have tried to play online with it wont connect
