Is there anyway and if so what is the best to connect to a monitor with only DVI and VGA?

Can't seem to find a way.

if your DVI has HDCP then you can convert HDMI to DVi but you need to check first.

Otherwise you'll need one of those expensive vga leads for ps3.

An HDMI-to-DVI cable will do the trick, got one myself that I used for a few months before I had an HDTV. For sound, I used the composite cable that comes with the console, then plugged a twin RCA female-to-3.5mm male adapter into that, then put the 3.5mm into my PC speakers. My speakers have a 3.5mm female port though, most will just have the 3.5mm male adapter that goes into your soundcard so check that.

Then all you need to do is tell the PS3 to output video via HDMI, and sound via the A/V port. Worked really nicely for me.

I think I'd be keener to sell my old monitor and put that plus the £60 quid toward a new HDCP compliant one. :o

Mind you I guess if you use it with more than one monitor, it would make sense. :)

Depends on finances. I couldn't afford a new hdtv so for £60 I got my ps3 running with my current monitor. I've given up playing pc games bar FM09 so I put my older 17 inch on that.

If the cable was £20 then its a bargin but it's a reasonable price and the price of second hand monitors is pretty low.

Another alternative would be to buy a tv second hand.
