not sure
Hi all I am wondering is it some setting or just the way it is.

I have my PS3 on my LCD TV connected VIA HDMI and it looks great (for a cheap TV) but Iplayer looks poor.

if I connect my laptop to me TV VIA VGA and use Iplayer that dont look to bad.

I assume it is just the PS3?.

Is there a setting I can change to get better quality or is this it?.

Thanks

Pretty sure the iplayer feed is the same as the one provided for the Wii (/bigscreen?) and so is just SD...

Doubt theyll ever will bother improving it...

ps3ud0

iPlayer is pretty horrible on the PS3.

I'd read somewhere that the BBC claim its because the PS3's browser is so poor, they can't get it to decode an HD stream well enough.

Oh well shame because its very handy but my partner moaned and said its not great and she is right.

We will continue to use the PC in the bedroom and Virgin in front room.

iplayer and other streaming Flash video services in general is pretty poor on the PS3 i.e. slow frame rate when compared to viewing on a PC. As above, it's down to the browser software on the system so it's up to Sony to fix/update it, if they ever do. Otherwise at least general playback for other standard video types is great.

99% of the time iplayer is fine here, i do notice though, at some points when ive paused something and clicked play again it does get worse and stays like that til the programme has ended. ive always put it down to my PS3 and internet connection, lag etc.

On Sony Bravia TVs (and possibly other makes), the iPlayer is as good as the PC one allows you to watch programmes in HD or SD.
I don't know why the PS3 one cannot be updated with the same capability.
