PS3 and Sky router issue, please help!

Hi
My ps3 wont connect to my sky router when my router has its security password on, but once i disable the security my ps3 connects without a problem.
The password im using is correct when i type it into the ps3 so that cant be it but once i have entered it a message pops up saying it has timed out and that the WPA key must be wrong?
Please help because I dont want to use my router without a password enabled.

Sky router default password will be all capitals. Did you type it into the PS3 with caps?

usa a cat5 cable instead?

How far away is the PS3 from the router? Maybe try setting them up side by side to see if that works. Obviously not suggesting that you leave/use them that way but if it connects then it suggests that it's the distance.

Does the sky router offer any choices in regards to the keys/encryption used?
