PS3 and Tripple screen

Noob question.....

Is there a way to put the playstation across three screens like you can on PC (see below):

No for the consumer. Devs have shown several machines linked up playing games on severeal screens though.

Neither the PS3 or the 360 have enough power to generate the kind of graphics needed on that scale. Most games arent even 1920x1080 let alone 5760x1080
 
There was talk of GT5 support this... but required 3 x PS3 and 3 x Copies of the game. They were then networked to sync.

Dunno if this has actually been done for the final release.

Short answer is no. PS3 only has one output so you'd need to use something like a "triple head to go" to trick the PS3 into thinking it was just one massively wide monitor.

The settings for the PS3 probably don't support that kind of resolution and the games probably won't either.

In addition games these days are made to run on the edges of the capabilities of the consoles they run on. So if you triple the resolution you'll no doubt have some shocking framerates.

I am currently having great fun using GT5 as little more than a Nordschleife sim. In the right cars it's as deeply satisfying as anything I've ever driven on the PC, including iRacing.

But I really miss my three screen PC setup. One huge screen is nice, and I may reluctantly have to pick up a decent sized TV to use instead of one of my 20" PC monitors, but the peripheral vision which those side screens give you is simply impossible to beat. It fools your brain in a way one big image simply can't manage.

I don't think I'm in danger of being converted to the PS3 for any other games, but if the PS4 (whenever that happens!) supports three screens I will be over the moon. I doubt it will though. It's a very niche feature.

Well PC’s went HD gaming and 3D gaming before Consoles so I’d imagine that multi screen gaming for consoles will eventually come along one day. Everything the PC does the consoles finally catch up with.

PC has always been cutting edge, first with pretty much everything we see in games consoles today in some shape or form. It was always said, if you want to see what the next gen of consoles will include, then look to the PC for inspiration.

Triple screen gaming is nice though, I’d love a triple screen setup with a steering wheel and pedals playing racing games, that would be a total blast I’d imagine.

Maybe PS4 will have enough power to do multi screen gaming…… who knows.
