PS3 AND USB 3.O

can someone tell me please is the PS3 USB 3.0 compatible ie can I use my external Hard Drive which is USB 3.O with the PS3 to watch movies and do those movies have to be a particular files type ?

you can but it wont transfer at usb3 speeds.
