[PS3] Any RPG's About?

Basically, it's as subject.

The PS1 and PS2 consoles both had a shed load of good rpg's, especially the PS2, so I was expecting to see the PS3 continue it's support for the genre. Where are the PS3 rpgs? So far, we've had Oblivion and Enchanted Arms according to gamerankings. Is that really all there is?

I did a google search and see that FF and White Knight Story are being worked on but far from release. I've been holding off from getting a PS3 as I was expecting to see a few (re: a lot) more than two.

What RPG's are coming out this year for the PS3, does anyone know? What's the deal here.
 
I'm currently suffering RPG withdrawal due to the PS3s lack of this particular genre. At present the only game that comes close to being a RPG is folklore which is an action rpg with mixed reviews.

Basically i've just started FFVII from scratch today to tide me over till white knight story appears or another less publicized title is released.
 
I was only thinking about this the other day. Have the Japanese got any that aren't out here yet or is it a dry genre all round at this present time?
 
It's a completely dry genre on the PS3 unfortunately - the RPG developers have been busy cutting their teeth on the 360 this generation so it will take a long time for them to come around on the PS3. I can't even think of that many in production, except for the Final Fantasy XIII games and White Knight Chronicles.

The 360 is where it's at for rpg's (it's my favourite genre) and it's probably the main reason I don't have a PS3. Have you not considered getting a 360 for now instead?

360:
Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Enchanted Arms, Eternal Sonata, Phantasy Star Universe and FF XI for jrpg with Two Worlds, Oblivion, Mass Effect for wrpg.

On the horizon:
Fallout 3 (multi), Fable 2 (360 exclusive), Elveon (360 exclusive), Cry On (360 exclusive), Last Remnant (also PS3), Infinite Undiscovery (360 exclusive), Tales of Vesperia (360 exclusive), Star Ocean 4 (360/PS3 though rumours it's a 360 exclusive) and Mass Effect 2 (360 exclusive).

It's still not out of the question the 360 will get FFXIII as it's been written on a neutral engine (the white engine) and MS are very eager to have some of the pie.

I'm not saying the PS3 won't get rpgs just at the moment it's position is worse
than the Xbox's was vs the PS2.
 
Yeah, I've got a 360 atm Abooie. I just wanted to see how the ps3 was doing. I must admit, I'm a bit shocked at the lack of rpgs on the ps3. I really wanted to ditch my ps2 and get a 60gb ps3 to play my ol' favs, but also to play future titles. As there really doesn't seem to be many in the pipeline, I might actually treat myself to an elite.

Shame though. Playstation was the dogs doo-dahs for rpgs.. and I do like the brand because I've had a lot of gaming fun courtesy of Sony. Dunno why they dropped the ball.
 
I don't think Sony dropped the ball, I think M$ is just flashing its wallet about to anyone who'll listen. It's proved pretty futile to the home of RPGs, Japan. Only 0.5 million 360s sold in 2.5 years.
 
Enchanted Arms is probably the only traditional RPG out there at the moment. Looks pretty good and has reasonable reviews.

I's pretty sure that it will pick up towards the end of the year and will eventually overtake the 360 which only really has a handfull of RPG's.

Sony will eventually have bucket loads of RPG's just like the PS1 & PS2, just be patient.;)
 
As been mentioned there a lot of JRPGs making the way on the 360 to get sales in Japan, its worked in that the 360 has sold more than the original xbox did but probably not to the degree Microsoft or the Devs wanted.

Borderlands (PS3/360)
Free Realms
X Quest (PS3/360)
DC comics MMO

Most of these games, if not all are all still tabled for a 2008/2009 release, news of FF13 coming on anything but the PS3 have been dismissed by square enix at numerous events as the "Only on PS3" has been seen on the end of every trailer for this game. The white engine, now known as crystal tools is made to run on all current gen platforms be it Wii, PC and all in between, only FF13 is cited to use this at present, as Last Remnant will use a version of UE3, i guess the CE will be used in the new dragon swords game for the wii and the new S.E MMO for the other consoles.
 
Bit of a thread revival, but i see Bandai Namco have Tales of Vesperia as coming out for the PS3 this year and the 360, think most thought it would come to the PS3 at some point. It doesn't give a date for either of them so could be a timed exclusive for the 360 for a few months. Its done an eternal sonata and the PS3 bit has been removed again lol

ff13 wont see 360, when square enix were bought out by sony that was one of the main reasons. If MS got ff13 by some bizzare means it would cripple the ps3 in its homeland.

Lost Odessey is basically FF though, great game. And although not JRPG you cant knock oblivion even if it lacks some of the more hardcore/engrossing elements of earlier elder scrolls titles
