Still having issues using the PS3 as a wireless media player/extender. Can anyone provide or link to a step by step guide to getting things working ok including hi-def x264 files.

Only way I've found of getting them to play smoothly is using ethernet cable for the connection and using MKV2VOB to change the file into an .mpg. I believe this impacts the quality somewhat but no other extension (m2ts, vob etc) seem to be recognised by the PS3 when accessing the pc as a media centre.

I have tried 85mbps homeplugs (as I don't want cable trailing around the house) and they still don't appear to be quick enough to keep up. Have also tried TVersity which seems buggy and not all files are played.

A mate who has just bought a PS3 is having similar issues to myself.

I've managed to get hi-def streaming fine now using Media Player 11, MKV2VOB converting to .mpg and patch leads going to a 10/100 switch patched into my router. I suppose my real question is whether anyone has managed to stream hi-def wirelessly or whether that is effectively reserved for Wireless N? I'd consider 200mbps homeplugs if I thought they'd cope..
