PS3 AVI/XVID playback

Yes, they look fine. 360 seems to recognise more, although neither tend to recognise older codecs. You can rip them to HDD on PS3 though, which you can't do on 360.
 
They look great via the PS3, it's fantastic at upscaling video. Strange that Wedgie says that, as I can play a lot of files that my friend and his 360 cant. They do both struggle with older stuff though.
 
I've found that the PS3 plays a hell of a lot more than the 360. I've been fine with the quality, haven't exactly looked into it in much detail.
 
Perhaps the PS3 does recognise more then. That's not been my experience, but then I don't watch a huge amount of videos on either so even the difference I have seen wasn't especially large.
 
PS3 used to struggle with older codecs and didn't play as many as 360 but that was a ll fixed a while ago with a firmware update. Not had mine refuse to play a single vid since tbh ;)
 
i've found the 360 and ps3 to be complimentary - what one doesnt play the other will...
 
If it is Top Gear you are hinting at, IMO they don't look that good but it can be worse.

Also not all were recognised but downloading a lightly different version did work, I guess it depends on what program is used to create the videos.
