PS3 backup time (10 hours for about 300GB)

Guys am trying to backup my PS3 320GB harddrive so I can replace it with a 1TB harddrive as I ran out of space with the 320gb drive...

But my PS3 is telling me it going take 10hours just to backup the 320gb drive to a USB2.0 ext harddrive :eek:


10hours :eek: :mad: surely there got be a quicker way to backup my PS3 hardrive then this ?? :confused:
(And am guessing it going to also want another 10hours to copy the backup back to the new 1TB drive)

Its got some mad encrypted file system so yeah it takes ages and no way to get around it. Best to delete/redownload as much as you can to minimise the backup size...

Don't know why but for me I've seen a backup take 24hrs with USB powered 2.5" hdd versus 3 hours with mains powered 3.5" hdd.

I found these quotes above so am going try with one my old mains powered 3.5" ext USB2.0 harddrives and if it is any quicker....

OK using my mains powered ext harddrive seems to be no faster then using my 2.5" USB2.0 powered harddrive for me..:(

Guess am just going to have to wait a million hours for it to finish and get driven crazy by the PS3 stupid loud fan that kicks into a high speed when backing up..

I know it will take a while but its only 10 hours and once it's done it's done :)

Leave it on during the night.
