while the cell is a impressive number cruncher iam struggling to see a hole in the market for it.

would love to see some rear world benchmarks for it though. +possible overclocks....

it is capable, but most developers dont use it for graphics in PS3 games yet

from what i have read so far it can, originally it was intended to be the cpu and gpu for the ps3, sony decided to add a 7800 based card into the ps3 too free up a couple of spe's for what was at the time a leap in physics technology/usage.

but in fairness most of the cell info is beyond my understanding so i may be wrong.

well hold on a second, the cell is a pure number cruncher, hell its proberbly vastly superior to ageia physx processor, so pairing cell and RSX on a single board could be like AMDs fusion, but dedicated physics and dedicated GPU on all one board, could be interesting

I imagine it's not even going to be released for desktop computers, or supported by games developers.

It's for servers and workstations, that sort of thing. Same with the Tesla GPU. I don't know why people get excited over this as if these things are going to be in their computers soon doing physics and uber graphics.
