I've noticed that you can view iPlayer shows in HD when on a computer, but can't find the option on the PS3? is it not possible do you maybe have to use the PS3 browser and go to the actual website to see the HD stuff?

I quite like having iPlayer on the PS3, however i think it needs some stuff looking at - it needs to disable the screen saver just like in a game or movie, and it needs to be easier to navigate (going between the small website view and fullscreen for example is a bit of a pita...)

any ideas on the HD?

They don't allow it at the moment. The PS3 just about copes with SD.

This is true. The PS3's browser is really bad at handling anything other than basic webpages or message boards.

It would have to be a dedicated app like Vidzone to be able to take advantage of the PS3's hardware and show HD footage.

They did actually implement hardware decoding for H.264 Flash streams but for some reason it still does the odd stutter for SD. I don't think it ought to.

ah fair enough at least i know now :)

i reckon we're not far off having these web players built into the tellies... my sony w5500 already has an xmb and can play divx etc through usb and its also connected to tinternet for widget type things so maybe the next step is a lovely integrated link with iPlayer, 4OD etc... maybe the next step after that is sky and virgin and the like moving to web only so no need for the boxes anymore...

all very exciting this technology malarkey aint it :D

Because the console is a useless sack of fail. need some open source stuff or something to take advantage of the hardware.

All work fine here only problem I have is when I am watching f1 on the iplayer the screen saver keep coming on every 10min, very annoying should be set to stay off when watching. Apart from that I reakon it's great. On 20mb Boardband so that helps

I was pleased to find this feature last week too. I am curious to know about other streaming abilities though and in particular using my PS3 to view my IP Camera that watches the front of the house.

I have a Panasonic BL-C131 that uses a browser based application to view it. Anyone got experience of trying something similar?
