So, I have a BD remote for my PS3 which has been working absolutely fine.
I'll be honest, it has been around a month or so since I switched the PS3 on, but when last I did all was well.

Today, attempt to switch PS3 on with the BD remote - nothing.
So, I pop out and buy some new AA batteries, install - still nothing.
I log into the PS3 using a controller, go to the "Add BD Remote" option where it tells me to hold down Start & Enter until the screen changes. This process will remove the existing controller and setup the new one.
Follow this process - nothing. Holding down the keys as instructed and the screen never changes, just sits there.

So a little forum checking and someone says to make sure nothing is plugged into the USB - confirmed, nothing wired in.

Someone suggests getting to the screen where you add the BD Remote, at this point hold the PS button on the controller and switch it off, so no BD devices are attached and then run through the process - nothing, remote still doing nothing and the controller cannot reconnect at this point, so have to restart PS3.

Final thing was - check batteries are the right way around. Yup, confirmed. Also switched the new batteries into a Sky remote - sky remote works fine, using the batteries that were in the Sky remote, still nothing from the BD controller.

So, any other magic tricks to try and get this working? Or, has this device quite literally stopped working over the month it was sat around doing nothing and I'm going to have to replace it?

Cheers.

Check the battery terminals in the remote to make sure the old batteries did not leak and coat the terminals, hence making them insulated from the new batteries?
Take a wire brush or sandpaper carefully to the terminals.

Cheers.
Took a look and everything appears to be fine, no sign of battery leakage.
Did some light sanding, still nothing.
On advice elsewhere I tried formatting the unit - cannot see the connection but someone else said it had helped them.
Only options left would be to reset the PS3 system - I'm assuming this effectively outs the unit back to factory settings, albeit with the latest software running.
If that does nothing - I've got to assume the remote is faulty I guess.

Id already have assumed its faulty - if you dont have any issues with the DS3 then why would you have any BT issues with your PS3. If the remote isnt working then its an issue with the remote itself...

You dont have anyone with a PS3 where you could test the remote?

ps3ud0

Oh don't get me wrong - the assumption is now dead remote.
It's just the series of events are:
I use PS3 and the remote.
I switch the PS3 off
Approx. 3-4 weeks pass, during that time the remote remains on a glass shelf, untouched, in fact it left a space in the dust around it :)
I switch PS3 on - remote is not working.

I do appreciate and understand "things fail". It's just odd when it has been left all alone for it to fail :)

Yer, one of the original remote's. I picked up on that thread earlier and tried everything in it with the exception of using "freshly charged rechargeable batteries".
I just picked up some cheap and cheerful "Duracell Basic" AA's off the shelf of Aldi earlier and attempted to use them and nothing.
I cannot believe that such a device would be "picky" over batteries.

There is apparently a newer version of the remote, extra buttons, AAA batteries instead. I'll obviously buy that if I need to - just cannot convince myself my remote is dead.
Have to see if any of my mates have either a PS3 or a remote so we can do some tests.

I wonder if the remote needs stripping down? Depending on how it has been handled/placed over the years and say in the sun? Sometimes the main used buttons can develop an oil between the buttons and PCB contacts...

You could try holding Start & Enter, and then use something like a phone or PC to scan for bluetooth devices and see if anything appears.

Just took mine out the draw, batteries melted into their slots. :(
