PS3 best games?

A bit late but, I have just bought my first console since my original xbox and have been playing warcraft for past couple of years so am not up to speed on the games to have.

Its coming with Fifa 10 and inFamous. What other games do you think I should get. Obviously havent played any of the old ps3 games and some seem pretty cheap at the moment so will try them first.

So quiestion is what would you buy ?

main pc games are counterstrike. gta, warcraft.

Fancy a good driving game and some action adventure sort of stuff and a good fighting game may streetfighter mortal combat type of thing. Also want to play online.

yea, a good driving game/car mod game is MCLA and it has a good online play.

erm battlefield 1943 is good on ps3 if u like fps on a console, ive got it but much prefer it whens its on pc i think.

lego starwars is a laugh aswell! should be able to pick that up cheap

If i was you i would invest in the following:

LittleBigPlanet (as already suggested) - fantasticly fun game!
COD: World At War - great game, get practise for the new one in 4 weeks!
Dirt2 - Great driving game
Racedriver:Grid - Another very good driving game.
GTA4 - No console would be complete without this!

I have a few other games but these are my noteable 5 which are played most often.

Fifa 09 (10 is probably really good too, havnt tried it yet)

Driving - Motorstorm Pacific Rift is great fun (arcadey though). Usual mention of GT5 Prologue

Fighting - Soul Calibur IV is great fun

Action Adventure - I'd highly recommend Uncharted

FPS - as mentioned, BF1943 is a good online FPS. I also enjoyed the first Resistance (haven't played the second but it got good reviews)

Ok first of all check out these driving games
Ferrari Challenge (all ferrari racing game)
Supercar Challenge ( by the same devs but with supercars)
F1CE ( Still the best F1 game ive played for a while, out of date teams and drivers but still good)
Gt5p ( not everones cup of tea but worth it as its pretty cheap)
NFS shift ( Demo on the PSn some like it some dont)
Grid (Arcadey racer looks pretty good)
Dirt 1 and 2 ( Pretty good Rally games Dirt 2 demo on PSN)
Burnout ( less of a driving game more of a crash one good arcade fun)

Arcade Adventure
Uncharted 1 ( Get it NOW!! Finish before Friday!)
Heavenly Sword ( Short game but some great Characters, fun combat rent or buy very cheaply)
Ratchet and Clank tools of Destruction ( Good platform/Shooter quite a long game and pretty funny)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 ( Improvement over 1, co-op mode seems quite fun)
Infamous ( Great super hero/villan game )
Batman AA ( Best batman game ever!! one of the best games this year)
Uncharted 2 ( finish the first then buy the GOTY )

Valkyria Chronicles

Marmite game, bought it on the strength of reviews. Had it about 6 months and only played about 30 minutes played it again today... I hate it Flogging it as soon as.

The one game I play most on my PS3 is Rockband2 only really cos I have guitar+drums tho.

Other games I enjoy on my PS3:
COD4 (so much fun, altho FPS games on the PC are much better)

Batman: Arkham Asylum seems pretty good and the PS3 as exclusive extra content which can be downloaded for free from the PSN store.
