So my trusty 2007 40GB gave me the YLOD last night. Luckily I had a spare PS3 that has the Blu Ray drive fault Both machines are the CECHG03 models. I have tried swapping the drive out of the YLOD machine into the faulty drive one and nothing happens, it takes the disc but it the game does not show on the XMB. I take it the drive are slightly different in some way. Is there anything I can do with these two drives to make my PS3 work again?

AFAIK, You can't just swap out a drive as they will be paired or something like that.
As for getting around that, I think its questionable if we're allowed to talk about that here?
