ps3 borked. what are my options?

my ps3 has developed a issue where it cuts out and loses power.

its 18 months old isnt there some eu directive to cover goods for 2 years from the place of purchase?

Im aware of soga but not sure how far id get with this.

Otherwise it looks like a repair or replacement.

Any advice?

Total Console Repair in Dorset fixed mine when the laser went. Very good service, would use again.
