PS3 Compatible External Hard Drive

Hey guys

My Western Digital External Hard Drive isnt recognised by my PS3, and would like to get one that is so I can watch films and the like, does anyone know of any that definitely work? Ideally looking for 1TB.

Any will work, as long as it's FAT32 formatted. The PS3 doesn't detect NTFS drives unfortunately.

Yeah, as said the PS3 rather pointlessly only accepts FAT32 drives.

I have 1 of each but if you want movies on your PS3 just use HJsplit or whatever it's called. It's free and splits up the movie perfectly well in seconds.
Irritating, as 99% of movies I ever watch are higher than 4.1GB as it's all BR but no other way around it unfortunately.

Had the same problem, had to re-format my external HDD to FAT32 for the PS3 to recognise.

I've got a 250GB Western Digital My Passport and it works well.

Same here, good little drive. I used Fat32 Formatter so the PS3 would recognise it. Took a while to format though, like hours!
