PS3 - connecting to the net

Ive just bought one of these for a present.
Does it connect to the net straight out the box? Is it wireless? Im not having him use it on the net for a while, so if it is wireless is there a way to turn it off?

If he doesn't know the wireless password...

Or maybe block the mac address on the router.

i think finding the MAC of the PS3 and blocking it on your router would be best as said above. Then re-allow it later when you let him on.

Parental controls should allow you to block it, just use that.

I forgot my net has a password. That will do it.

As long as he doesnt try to connect to the neighbours net...
