PS3 Controller and Vista

I have one of those whizzy PS3 adaptors for my PC which worked brilliantly in XP Pro.
Not the same story where Vista's concerned.

I connected the adaptor to an available USB port and Vista detected it and installed drivers.

However, it doesn't show in game controllers via Control Panel. It does show in Device Manager as a human interface device.

Anyone else encountered this? I'd like to get playing Test Drive Unlimited but arrow keys suck big time!

Cheers :)

mine does with no need for drivers
I'm referring to the drivers automatically installed by the OS once the device has been detected (as opposed to the drivers which came with the controller).

Does your game pad show up in game controllers? I'm assuming the answer is yes. And which version of Vista are you using? I'm using Home Premium 64.

yep just plugged it in and it worked, comes up in game controllers as "PS Vibration Feedback Controller" It can be fully configured here.
Using Vista Business 32.

Note: I actually have 2 ps2 adapters and my newer one with 2 ports for controllers doesn't work at all but my older one does.

It seems that some work and some don't.

Aha! The one I have has 2 ports - came in a yellow box if I remember correctly.

D'oh! Looks like I'll have to hunt around for the older adaptor. Just the one port then.

Yeah sorry - PS2. However I have seen sites on the web which provide instructions on getting PS3 pads working on PCs :) .
