my controller doesn't seem to charge..
the console is only a few weeks old, and it was working fine and i've recharged it once already, but when i try and recharge it from my PC the lights flash for a few minutes and then stop.
when i plug it in to the PS3, only 1 light comes on and it works fine.

the PS button turns it on wirelessly, but after that the 4 lights flash for a while then turn off
the PS3 doesn't recognise the controller after this presumably because it's dead
is this a common problem?

-edit, i just tried to charge it via the console. the lights flashed for a 5 minutes and then stopped.
it won't sync with the console unless it's plugged in.

It's a known problem with the last firmware, I think there's meant to be a fix coming out soon for it.

The temporary workaround I've seen post (and works for me) is when the PS3 is turned off plug the joypad in with the USB cable. Turn the PS3 on with the on button and when the XMB loads and says "press the PS button", unplug the joypad and press the button and it should synch up.

awesome, cheers dude

thought it was properly broken and was going to shout at someone, but i couldn't even find a number to phone..
come to think of it, this did happen directly after i installed the latest firmware :p

I have this sync problem on my brand new Slim – not chuffed, seen as the old 60gig one worked fine, I also find that the Slim takes longer to detect the headset also :o

Once you've done this once you don't need to plug in the controller again, you can just turn on the PS3 via the power button on the console and press the PS button wirelessly.

Hopefully they're going to fix this soon as I quite liked switching the thing on without getting up off my arse lol

Im having problems wih a brand new DS3 - it works when on USB but nothing else - the pad indicator on screen doesnt even show its charge status...

My existing one is fine, just wont register the new one :/ even with the workaround above :(

ps3ud0

 How odd, my post has been deleted. Nontheless to paraphrase - I thought I had this issue, turned out it was simply my controller not having enough juice, ie. it was completely flat - however my friends was doing the same and it was fully charged. Mentioned this quick fix to him and it's alleviated the situation - so thanks! :)

Thanks for this tip - currently I'm having to keep plugging the bloody thing in, have to get out of the habit of powering the console up via the controller for now.
