PS3 Controller Redesign

Should be interesting to see what they come up with especially since they will have to change the way the vibration works because of that court case

I think the patent is on vibrating controllers full stop, Microsoft paid Immersion a nice license fee to use it.

It's to do with the mechanics that cause it to vibrate or something like that, hence why Nintendo (although they own some of Immersion) did not infringe on any patents

I don't think vibrating controllers with a motor really has enough of a "kick" anyway. However, I also have no idea of an alternative.

That's pretty cool. I saw that on the Joystiq (i think) mockup competition a few weeks back.

Once you get your head around it, it's a very well thought out design. Plus, with all that extra space inside they could do some crazy force feedback system, much better than weedy rumbling.

I think they announcment that they will redesign if very recent news, from the last couple of days I believe.

Always found the playstation analogue sticks a bit uncomfortable to use, but i'm getting on with the 360 ones just fine. The position and height from the controller are better.

the xbox 360 is the perfect contoller....the analogue sticks are annoying on the ps2 pads

Laughs its farrrrrr from perfect, I still think the triggers are too close to the shoulder buttons, its too easy to catch a corner of one (shoulder button) when all you are doing is squeezing the trigger - or maybe just the pressure point of the shoulder buttons needs a redesign - ie more direct pressure works but a slight press on a tiny bit of one corner doesnt?

What Soulja said.

Best controller I've ever used and I've used most of them.

I don't know how there is any doubt about the Xbox360 pad not being the best? It's head and shoulers above the competition and is widely accepted as such.

However, I'm glad I was proven right when I said they would re-design it a few months back \o/.
