PS3 Controller won't stop charging...

Hey,

I have two Sixaxis pads which I've had since launch last year. Previously they both used to charge normally, and after they were done the LED would stop flashing and they would be shown as "fully charged" on the controller status screen.

However, I recently noticed one of the pads does not do this anymore - instead it will carry on blinking and never confirm that it is fully charged (left it charging overnight to check this).

It works perfectly fine, but I'm just wondering why this is? Can I damage the battery by overcharging it?

Cheers,

Suman

My controllers stop charging and lose connection after a while (all 4 lights flashing)

I guess a recent firmware changed this by allowing the controller and PS3 to turn off automatically after a while.

That doesn't mean they've stopped charging, just that it's disconnected its bluetooth connection. It was added in the previous firmware update; controllers now switch off after 5 mins of inactivity.

To the op: i'm afraid i've never heard of this, i can only assume it's a fault somewhere. If it bothers you i can only recommend giving Sony a bell and seeing it they will replace it. Tbh, if you have two sixaxis i assume that means you don't have a DS3? If so i suggest ditching the sixaxis and buying one of those instead as they're just better.

Streeteh, I tried my cousins DS3 and wasn't overly impressed tbh... just felt a lot heavier and the rumble has always irritated me tbh. I read somewhere the analogue sticks and/or shoulder buttons are supposed to be better, but I really couldn't tell the difference!

I'll give Sony a ring and see what they say :)

Fair play, early sixaxis pads, especially in the US, had huge deadzones on their joysticks and were made out of terrible flimsy plastic that you could see through if you held it up to a bright light. Later models were the same as DS3s but without rumble, personally i love rumble but if you don't and have the improved sixaxis models then i see that there's no point in changing them.
