PS3 CRT Help on GTA4

Hi got a PS2 and at the moment I don't have a flat screen to pennies allow.

Now I have it connected with the cable that came with it (PS3 to tv on that Scart block thing connector, yellow, red and white plugs)

I am playing GTA4 and the text is near on impossible to read unless I get up from the sofa and look right at the TV. I sit about 7 feet away. The TV is a 28" Widescreen JVC

I have tried brighness, contrast on GTA4 options and on the TV still can't make it better.

Am I missing something ?

I bought one of these off of the "jungle" website "The Gamers Choice Sony Ps1, Ps2 & Ps3 Compatible Rgb Scart Cable With Av Video"

Made no difference to me at least.

Perhaps someone can help as I cannot read the text's on the phone in GTA4 unless next to TV and cannot even work out the icons on the map.

no, it is not there. you have ringtone, keypad tone, story on/off, thats it. Must be different on Xbox


I have just changed in main PS3 menu under display from 16:9 to 4:3 and it is better and now readable. But shouldn't it be on 16:9 for a widescreen tv anyhow
 
^ yes 16:9 is the right one

The RGB cable will help. You should check if you can use component though on the back of your TV. Its the Red Green Blue connection. That will give the clearest picture.

Yes but on 16:9 i cannot see anything clearly (Icons/Text on phone) change it to 4:3 and i can see it fine.

My TV does have RGB in and I have tried that cable and to be honest for the £6 or so i spend on it cannot tell any difference whatsoever
 
I have a 40" 1080p LCD and also had to set the phone text size to large to be able to read it.

Have you selected RGB on the PS3 and on the TV ??
 
it isnt there, i swear, no text option whatsoever. If anyone finds it on the Ps3 version i will give you £10. It isnt there, anywhere...nope no no no

and if it is specsavers here i come

Maybe there is a misunderstanding, AFAIK the only text size you can change is the text on the mobile phone, not the other on screen text.
 
SCART RGB will give a far more stable noise free image. Although could still be a combination of small fonts, TV out of focus, TV too small.

So wait you bought a component cable aswell ? RGB scart is not component.

I dont know what else to say it should be 16:9, and component is the best connetion then RGB scart then composite.

If it doesnt make it any better then your tv must not be upto the job.

You could try using 480p when you put the component in (though im not totally convinced you've got the right cable).
