I have a cool idea that i'd like to do to one of my ps3, I have noticed that there are a lot of heavily moded xboxes but ps3 only seem to get a lick of paint. So ive come up with a case idea to increase the air flow and really change the look of the ps3:devil:
Here are some pics of what ive done so far, ive only spent a few hours on it so far and would like some feed back. My biggest consern it the fact that its all alu and the iners of the ps3 are all metal which could be a real problem:mouthdrop: So any ideas to remove that problem would be greatly appresiated.
I am planning on welding the joins than then maybe trimming the edges to neaten it up but i'll have to see how it looks once welded
any other feed back welcome;)

I'm going to weld the edges then smooth down hopefully it will come out very neat then spray the case a different colour and put in some leds. i also want to add a temp gauge to at least one of the processors as the ps3 in question has ylod before though if it works well and then the ps dies i'll use one of my othes:)

I wasnt to happy with the basic shape so ive changed the shape so it is more like trheoriginal shape, though i'm not going to cut the excess till ive welded it or just before

It is a shame there isn't many mods for it except laptops and such but giving the state of what it looks inside I cant blame there for being a lack of them XD

Interesting idea IDK were id begin with mine :S

will have to see what i can do with the internals, maybe paint them or make mesh cases or just take off the metal cases. just wondering if i should try and mod a controller case out of mesh, dont know how nice it would be to use

Why not see how much it would be to get some nice perspex made up for a nice see-through design? You could have a nice colour then, and if there is room maybe include some LEDs inside that can run off the main power?

I do commend you in doing something different, but I have to agree that it does look a little cheap (for want for a better word). Are you able to get some better in focus images up for us?

is aint finished yet, its not been put to gether and welded yet so it aint going to look that good yet, i'm also spraying it after. there wouldn't be much point in making it out of tinted perspex as it aready is and i'm increasing air flow to it as its a ylod one

I'd say your biggest job is going to be getting the disk slot looking anything like decent, and not like it'll scratch a disk as soon as look at it or mangle your fingers. I'd go so far as to say I'd be *extremely* impressed if you manage to pull that off and make it look neat with proper straight edges/corners.

Had to leave this for the moment, tried welding it but its too thin. So i need to come up with a different way of joining it up. i also need to get my pc case finished as i have now got most parts for it

I know you're putting this on hold but in terms if fixing the mesh panels, perhaps crimping/welding a solid strip at the edge would be an idea?

Hope you pc case goes ok, show us some pics of that aswell. Cant beat pc porn!
