I've tried both methods.

Old system > External HDD > New System - Doesn't restore game data or psn games, only restores video and saves

Network cable transfer - copies for around 2 hours then fails, it has done this 3 times now

Getting rather annoyed as I have around 100gig of PSN games / Game data installed on my old PS3 and I don't want to re-download / install it all over again.

Any idea's?

That is a puzzle. I always have issues with backing up to USB however the Ethernet transfer is always reliable. Have you tried a different cable, also is it certainly an xover ehernet?

It's a cat5 patch, not a cross over, do I need a cross over cable then? I thought the PS3 NIC would have been smart enough to handle that.

It starts the transfer, the PS3's see each other, it bails out around 80% after 2 hours of transferring.

I have rebuilt the database and file system on both PS3's too.

When you back up to USB should it back up your PSN / Game data too?

Also I have de-activated the old PS3 as requested by the guidelines when doing the Transfer from PS3>PS3.
