my console has just died on me September 2007 60gb model. Can't even eject my game.You try and turn it on and just beeps three times and green yellow light then turns off then just red flashing light. Phoned up sony they want £145 for a refurbished one.

All my games saves will be lost have no back up same thing happened to my xbox last year at least Microsoft repaired it for free.
don't think i'm going to bother with console gaming anymore this makes me so mad and i just bought 2 games yesterday.

I thought all electronic come with 2 years European wide guarantee,well according to Sony only 12 months?
 
Best idea would be to talk to Sony first and see what they can do, i expect they will offer a refurb for between £99-£140, but they may feel generous so try that first. Then search this forum for the YLOD thread it gives you a "how to" fix this problem, it doesnt take that long and all you need is a heat gun (£20) thermal paste and screwdrivers. Ive fixed a couple and they, so far (touch wood) have been fine. Others on here have done it but it has only worked for a few weeks. You will be able to do a backup of your saves and content and be able to retrieve your game disk. There are also a few places around who will do this for you for around £50-70 mark that will either do a while you wait service or a pretty quick postal one.
