PS3 Delayed until March 2007 for Europe

well, i guess its no big surprise really - no launch titles are obvious, and that price... Leaves me in a bit of a quandry really tho.

I dont want a 360, my conroe & X1900XT 512MB i own runs most of the games i'm keen on for that platform, and i really see Ninty struggling to get the Wii out before christmas - their track record isn't spotless for launch dates :/

still means i'll have a more informed decision as to whether to buy or not in March - if the US lot are saying its awesome, i'll feel happier, equally if they say its pants i'll save a truck load of money.

I think the PS3 delay is only good for the gaming market. (I wish it never comes out). :D

Comsumer will get to enjoy more original titles from Xbox 360, Wii, DS instead of PSone sequels with better graphics.

Software developers are getting too lazy to come up with original titles because of the Sony Playstation.
as much as i have a habit of bashing sony you are so wrong with that quote

1. more competition = a better market, you think we would have fresh new games if only one company was in control?
2. xbox 360 is just as guilty as ps3 for gfx remakes, im not saying they are bad games, but please, pgr3, burnout, fifa etc etc
3. i laugh at your last point, they are too lazy because of the playstation, why? are they too busy playing on it to create games or something?

im pretty much an MS fanboy, and your anti sony post made ME laugh, christ you are going to get flamed from sony boys

Now I normally steer clear of these threads because I have little to no interest in either the PS3 or the 360 & will only be owning a Wii.

However this time I felt I had to have a dig as well :D :D

I cant believe now 2 months before the propsed launch Sony are telling us we wont have one for another 6 months I've never known anything so stupid & self destructive...we all know this wont spell the end of the Playstation brand but it certainly wont be doing it any good.

MS will love this a whole 1 & a half year head start (more or less) they couldnt have wished for anything better & as said above Nintendo will fare far better this year because of the extra disposable christmas income that will no doubt go their way.

Only 9 days till the big Nintendo launch conference (8 if you want the US one) & we will know exactly what sort of head start the Wii will have in Europe...cant wait :D :D

I think that its obviously bad business for Sony to delay it but then how many regular people will care?

360 wins first two years but what if PS3 whips it every year from now on.

I think that if the PS3 lasts for 6 years then by the end of the life of the PS3 they will be the market leaders.

Im waiting for the PS4 vs XBOX 3 battle. That'll be interesting...

You escaped it the other day, but I give up. Welcome to spot #2 on my ignore list. Bye.

Back on subject, knew this would cause a few waves on here. Cant say Im too suprised, as soon as I heard Sony on the radio I knew what was coming. Really opens the door for MS and Nintendo to take the initiative, looks like a lot of little Tommys will be getting a 360 under the tree.

Sony has never done itself any favours in Europe, especially when you look at the price difference between europe and the rest of the world when they were selling the PS2 at a premium... the xbox 360 is a really good machine... yes I know that Japan and the US are their biggest markets, but I always got tought that you were suppose to expand into markets that you do not yet dominate...

Stelly

Europe has been a cash cow for Sony for years now, for little investment sony has dominated the EU market for years but now that both of their compeditors will have consoles out before them this could really hurt them.

I'm very dissapointed in Sony. I've always defended them on these forums - fighting the playstation corner! But this is pretty bad. March 2007? May as well put aside PS3 and start designing PS4 lol!

Still, at least there'll be more games to choose from - silver lining and all that :)

Really ?

Write smackdown on the side of a washing machine and they'll all be saying that Bendix is the best thing since sliced bread :D

This is an extremely bad move on sony's part, they have said that christmas isnt really important as only techy geeks will buy it.

So they moved the launch to coinside with Halo 3, wow, smart move!

What would you buy? a console thats already been out for nearly a year and a half with developers getting to grips with the hardware, with the biggest hit on the console so far being halo 3 coming out in march!

Or a console that you need a mortgage to buy with no good games that ive heard of at launch and an extremely complicated developing platform.

Hmmm i dunno.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA

With the other threads over at XS detailing GPU downclocking, coupled with the ~£500 price tag, this is now beyond a joke. So the GPU now has the same power as a 7800gtx (or possibly less), and i very much doubt that cell is going to be good enough to combat that. Christ... quad cores and Directx 10 cards will have been out for a bit then, and the PS3 will come into the market looking dated.

I was hoping to make a tidy profit on one of these, but now that ideas out the window. If the Wii comes out at the rumored ~£150 mark then im sold :D

Good news for Microsoft and Nintendo, bad news for the industry and ultimately the consumer.

Hopefully this won't allow Microsoft to take its foot off the gas too much in Europe, but I can't see them dropping the price of the 360 now.

I just hope with the delay, it wont alter the game release launches, and we will see worldwide launches for those.

Personally, I expect MS to reduce the price now. Could really push home the advatange, as they now are directly up against the Wii, which has the pricing aspect in its favour.

Sony was never going to be able to get a World-wide release or be able to ship the original numbers they stated. Sony use JIT(just in time) production so they never keep a stock of any components. Hence why there is usually a shortage of sony systems come christmas time (last year the PSP, few years ago the PS2)

I think Sony are just playing into Microsoft's hands as far as europe goes at the moment! I expected this because Sony generally never deliver their promises so I've come to expect this kind of treatment. Can't say I'm fussed as I won't be buying one at all until a price drop/and or some decent games that are not already on the 360 come out.
