Is there a problem with the PSN at the moment?? I keep getting errors. Whenever (about 80% of the time) I select a friend or it syncs trophies I get the following message:

An error has occured during communication with the server.
This is a DNS Error.
(80710102)

The problem started last Tuesday when there was planned maintanence to the PSN so I assumed it was that as I've not had a problem before, but it's still the same a week later :(

I connect to the router by cable (not wireless), I've reset the router etc with no luck. I don't appear to have the problem on anything else ie PC, Xbox etc. so is there a problem PSN side or is there something i can check here?

Haven't had any problems on my side but usually that code means a problem with your Internet ie it's down or slow etc I only get this code when I can't sign in.

I did a speedtest of my internet last night and it seemed fine and I haven't noticed a problem on anything else. I guess I could try replacing the network cable just in case.

DNS is a service your machine uses to translate a url like www.overclockers.co.uk into an ip address, chances are your ISP is having issues, you could always use google dns or opendns, they're pretty fast and accurate.

Thanks for this, I just tried the google dns and things appear to be working :)

I'll let my ISP know so they can sort the problem.
