ps3 dvd drive needs remarrying

hi,i have a ps3 and the drive died.it was the logic board.so i bought a new board and now the drive is alive but won't read the disc.now i did'nt know that you can't just plug a new drive in.so i read up on the net and tried the resoldering the chip to the new board thing but it did'nt work.i've seen that you can do it with software but i can't get my head round it.would someone here be able to do it for me if i send the ps3 to them or if somneone lives close to me.cheers
 
If its been updated to the newest software e.g. above 3.55, then you'll need to purchase a hardware flasher so you can downgrade to 3.55.

If you do have 3.55 or below already then you can do it through software quite quickly. Google a site called PSGroove. Go a few articles down and theres a guide.
 
Sorry used to be PSGroove but they combined with PSX Scene, check out link removed.

If you're on 4.11 you'll need to buy some hardware to downgrade, I wouldnt be able to help much on that side but they do have a forum. Ask in there.
 
i can't buy any hardware as i'm on sick leave and not getting paid.surely theres someone out there with whats needed and would help me out???
