It's the region of the DVD which determines whether or not you can play it. It's perfectly possible to have a Region 0 NTSC disc which will work. If you could double check the actual region codes (via the method I suggested, or via software), that would be helpful

Trust me; it isn't. I have a Region 2 PS3 which is NTSC and it wont play Region 2 PAL DVD's. It specifically mentions that it is PAL. I have it hooked up to a TV which supports all formats.
