Just watched a regular dvd for the first time on my ps3 and ive noticed a sort of serious ghosting/wave effect which occurs a lot.

It's mainly on close ups of peoples faces. It looks like there face is crawling or "waving" about or sometimes a horizontal line is noticable through the middle of there face so both sides are not aligned? WTH is going on? Its hard to describe, infact sometimes it's like someone putting a bit of imperfect/curved glass over a part of the screen. It just looks warped.

Watched a blu-ray dvd's, Games, trailers e.t.c. and everything is perfect.

Is there a setting i am missing for DVD playback?

P.s. It does it whether i am up-scaling or not

any help?

Heres how someone else has described it. Pretty sure this is the same thing thats happening to me:

"Hey guys, just wondering if any of you also get this problem. Playing a dvd on my ps3 causes a ghosted sort of image usually visable if someone is standing in a shadow and only half their face is lit up, when they move its like half their head is moving and the other half will move at a different time. Now most of you will say its beacuse i have a 32" LCD which is initially what i thought but when i play dvd's on my 360 they come out fine. i could always use my 360 for playback but the drive is so damn loud id prefer to use the ps3, plus the ps3 keeps my room warm at night :P
Anyways , any help or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks."

found this on a google search but no solution.
