Has anyone else here experienced any trouble watching DVD's on their PS3's? I've had a problem occur with two different disks now whereby I insert the disk, and choose to play it. The animation then appears in the top right of the screen to show the disk is being read and then the thing seems to crash. Screen goes blank and there's no audio. The only way I can get the console back online is by turning it off and back on at the back.

Nothing wrong with the disks themselves, no scratches or anything and they play just fine on my 360 and Pioneer DVD player.

Never had that problem, however it is annoying when for example I'm watching 24 and stop (turn off ps3) half way through an episode, it doesn't save where it stopped and when wanting to watch the episode again I have to find the point manually.

I had the same problem to be honest but couldn't be bothered trying to figure out what was going on, maybe I should have another look :p

Well that's a relief. As long as it's not just me. :p

I have had issues with mine when it switches mode, from 720 to 480 etc, but I found it to be down to the HDMI cable. Next time it happens try unplugging the cable from the TV and then plugging it back in to see if it fixes as the PS3 may not have crashed after all - presuming you are using HDMI that is!!!

I have certainly had an issue with it not remembering where you got to in a film (admittedly on bluray but still)
I've not had that problem.

How are you exiting the movie?

I use the PS button the exit the film and it's remembered where I was up to every time.

Indeed I am. I'll give that a go, thanks!
