ok, after having purchased one(60gb UK) last June and due to having had a 360 for over a year previously initially being very disappointed by the games line up I pretty much left it alone for a year apart from watching the occasional BD or DVD. a few weeks ago i decide that it really is a waste of money if I'm not going to be playing it, so purchase a few more games and discover that all of a sudden the ps3 has actually got pretty damn good.]

so last night i put my mgs4 disc in and it's just doesn't read it at all, i get that little symbol in the top right corner of the screen to say the disc is in there but that goes after a bit and nothing more. I try Uncharted and get the same, ditto Gta4. Fifa seems to work as did the DVD i had handy. I tried resetting, switching it off at mains for 15mins, holding down eject button for over 30 seconds. nothing made any difference.

Now it's just gone outside its 1 year warranty so bye bye free repair or replacement. Can i pay to have it repaired though? i'd be gutted to have it just break down on me and have to pay approx £300 for an inferior model. If i can pay Sony to fix it any idea how much it might cost? There's no free fixes are there? as in just turn it upside down and it'll work fine and dandy? or is that hoping too much?

Thanks for any help.

What happens when 60gb BC model die? Do sony replace it with another 60gb BC model or do you get a new ps3 without BC?

Sony were great:D

My PS3 (60GB) died 2 weeks ago.I took it to a certain high street store and was giving sonys number since they can't replace the 60GB model

Anyway I phoned them up and the next day they replaced it with another 60GB PS3.
