PS3 fast question.. quick :)

.. I got a PS3 connected to a DELL monitor via an HDMI to DVI cable.. should it work???

I only get a black screen atm..

the monitor detects a signal and sets the right resolutions.. 1280 x 720.. but no picture?

Have you remembered to set the PS3 output to 1080P as well :confused:

As long as your monitor has HDCP it will work, unfortunately most don't.

The 2407 is fine, 2405 won't work though (as an example).

Ahhhh ok no HDCP then

But it works with component which is odd.. That hasnt got HDCP.

Why would you set it to 1080p at 1280x720? would be 720p

Dell 24" monitors are capable of 1080p though.

Its only a 20" dell tho not 24" so only 720p for me.

Ah, fair enough.
I have played 1080p and 720p stuff on my Dell monitor, tbh there isn't much difference.

Danm it..

HDCP is a digital system. Component is analogue. I don't think you can get 1080p output via component (filmwise anyway) due to possible piracy of Blu-ray films.
