To pay MKVs on the PS3, you need to remux to .VOB:

The .VOB can play directly from storage media (ext HDD/DVDR) or you can save it to the PS3 HDD drive by renaming it to .MPG and it will still play as expected. This supports 5.1 audio although it can only support 720p max as it seems the VOB format does not support the bitrate of 1080p.

For me this works with TV shows and movies in 720p and 5.1 AC3/DTS.

well i tried vigilante 8 2nd offense and the button lag was horrible, this is with a 100% signal - direct to ps3, not through router or the internet, so if you add a router or even the internet into the mix, your talking absolute mayhem, it was totally unplayable - looks like i was right totally pointless, unless your playing poker or chess

i played gt, medevil and ffVII, its perfectly fine. strange that.

Just noticed that with this update you can now see folders in folders i.e. A music album that has 3 discs all show up. Not sure about the divx/xvid playback though, mine all play but the quality seems not so good, certainly doesnt seem to be any upscaling atleast, or am i missing a hidden setting somewere??

I selected Remote Start on the PS3 and it works with a PSP but it also means the PS3 stays idling or at least a fan stays on as I can hear the machine when it's off.

I need to track down bishi bashi again - im going into town today where they have loads of second hand (or possibly 4th or 5th hand) ps1 games.

I heard that on normal standby, PS3 uses 1W, but with remote play on it uses 24W.
