Had a ps3 for a few days now and am getting to grips with it,

The things i hear from sony fans and the things i am seeing are 2 completely different stories,

First of all i will point out that i did purchase it as a blu-ray player with the ability to play a few exclusives,

The first thing i noticed when i turned it on was how quiet it was, this was brilliant, after being used to my 360 sounding like a rocket i was impressed, i ran uncharted (basically tomb raider with a bloke in it) all was quiet but after about 5 mins the fans kicked in, by god they could drown out a 360 easily, it is far noisier than my 360 and to make it worse it makes this racket when upscaling dvd's, is this normal?

I was also told by a lot of ps3 fans that it was brilliant at streaming content from the pc, so i gave this a go, and from direct comparison with my 360 i can honestly say that the 360 is leap years ahead, the 360 upscales brilliantly whereas the ps3 alternative looks very blocky and pixelated in dark areas.

i bought a few games from the PSN store, pixeljunk monsters (surprisingly good but damn hard) and everyday shooter (surprisingly carp) the shop is probably on par with xbox live but it has nowhere near as much choice and i can see it becomming cluttered when more content becomes available,

So far it is looking like a huge noisey hot ps1, all i am doing with it is playing FF VII which isn't a bad thing at all :)

BUT... i did buy it to serve as a blu-ray player and when watching planet earth it is absolutely stunning, which makes my decision worthwhile :)

the only real problem i have with it at the moment is the noise level, and the rubbish sixaxis controller (will be fixed shortly)

When i am playing blu-ray it is barely audible, which is brilliant

I did want it for exclusive games though but just can't cope with the noise it makes, especially after hearing how much quiter than the 360 it is meant to be
