PS3 flashing red light

Another fault on my second PS3. (Bring back the snes!)
Whenever I turn the system on the light goes green, then yeloow then just shuts off and constantly flashes red until I hit the power button.
I've heard this is meant to be an overheating issue but this is impossible at least in my case anyway. It has also been said to re-seat the HDD which I have done to no avail!

Has anyone else had this? Looks like a call to customer services is in order tomorrow

How so?

The system has been off for the last 15+ hours. In a cool location and as soon as I turned it on it just went.
Unless of course something severe has happened internally that I am unaware but I haven't moved it nor has i had any knocks etc

My biggest issue now is how do I get my COD4 disc back before I return the console

Have you tried turning the consoleon via the Eject button instead of the Power button?

Yep, that was a no go. Tried a few combinations

The replacement will be with me tomorrow but I may have to wait 3-4 weeks for COD4 back

Couldn't be a power surge problem with the outlet? You tried another one? Just a guess like

I'll give it a go when I get home although it is plugged into a belkin surge protection 4 way and all my other kit is still working from it.

What did your first PS3 go back for mate? Anything similar?

To be honest I don't think there was anything really wrong with my first PS3. It kept freezing on me. A couple of times during Resistance but mainly during PES 2008 demo which I later discovered to be a fault with the demo if you are downloading something at the same time.

What are peoples thoughts on usings tweezers to try and get my disc out?
Blu-rays are meant to be pretty scratch resistant and if I wrap the ends in sellotape it should add protection?

Depends how easy it may be to slide it out...
