PS3 for £200 in a certain shop

Ive just read on the usual websites that 1 store of high street shops more involved with books than consoles has dropped the price of the PS3 to £200. Seems like its not available online but in certain stores only, maybe be worth a phone call to pick up a bargain. Is this the start of channel clearing for the slim? or is it a fire sale? you decide.

They did ...... but about a month ago. That's where I got mine. £200 for 40gb version. I had the last one in the shop and I've not seen one anywhere since. They also had some very cheap games that also sold out very fast.

That's because they don't make the 40 GB one anymore, we had the same deal, it was to get rid of all our stock.

If its the shop that begins with WH, then they are moving away from both PS3 and the 360 to stuff their shelves full of Wii shovelware, because believe it or not, they think they will sell more.

If I at for some reason needed to get a new PS3 I think getting the cheapest version will likely be the best option. I think most people who are serous about the PS3 will just swap the harddrive for the highest capacity they can fit in the PS3 anyway.

My mate works for them and said because its coming to the end of their companies financial year they are shifting old stock. Expect PSPs and PS2s to be reduced soon too.

Funny you should say that. I was in woolworths just before it was announced that they were closing down. They had an offer that if you pre-ordered a Wii guitar hero world tour pack with £50 you got an extra guitar for free so you got: a Wii, wii sports, guitar hero world tour and 2x guitars all for £150. I was half tempted. Good job I didn't now. I bet this shop is going the same way.

They are phasing out their entertainment section I believe. Some shops already have. They are getting rid of their stock by selling off the DS lites for £50, PS3 for £200 etc.

And yes, Wii and DS shovelware does sell considerably more than PS3 and 360titles in this shop. More casual gamer shoppers and £38 minimum for most PS3and 360 titles sees to that.
