Has anyone else had issues with their PS3 freezing?
I've had it now for the last 3 months at least and its worst on particular games/demos especially the PES 2008 demo at the moment!
I'm going to ring the helpline in a moment and see what they say but has anyone had any experience of their customer service?

EDIT: Just got off the phone to CS and they are sending me a new PS3 tomorrow with a new 12 month warranty. Very impressed with the service tbh. I at least expected to be without my system for a week or so.

Best customer service in relation to console etc that I have ever dealt with MS could learn a few lessons.

My PS3 froze a couple of times on GRAW2 - which turned out to be a dirty rental disk.

And has recently frozen on the PES2008 demo - so your not alone on that one.

Yeah, my PS3 froze for the first time recently, whilst trying the PES2008 demo. As was reported in another thread, this was due to files being downloaded in the background, and was a bug, not a hardware problem.

Tried it again after my downloads list was empty, and it worked fine.

V1N.

Just taken delivery of it from parceline  and it wasn't quite what I was expecting. It turned up surrounded in foam placed in a sealed tote box, with no protective film on the case anywhere.
Maybe I was expecting too much but I anticipated a retail box with a bit more protection on it

Atleast yours was boxed. Mine wasn't wrapped or anything. The guy knocked on my door with the PS3 held in one hand, no covers, nothing. Just the console held down by his side in one hand.

As for your PS3 freezing, mine did it loads, then my drive stopped reading discs. Been quite a few returned PS3's lately on here.

so reliable but then one person complains about freezing and suddently a few more pop up with a similar problem.

maybe it isnt so reliable but the sales numbers arent high enough for its reliability issues to be spotted yet :p

I'm guessing that's because the PS3 return department is very quiet with little or no work around due to the reliability of the PS3
It could also be something to do with the fact you ring Sony and it arrives at your door next day, as oppsed to having to send your old console before getting a replacement.

lol at Needles little dig at MS, yet 1st to moan if anyone says anything bad about the PS3, lmao
The fact is, he's absolutely right, MS could learn a lot. If they provided this kind of speedy replacement for my 360 I quite frankly wouldn't care a toss how many 360's broke on me.

To be fair NokkonWud always mentions his has been broken before. I would say off the top of my head less than 10 people on this forum have had a hardware fault that required a replacement of the console apart from him. If it had a failure rate of approx 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 you would know about it regardless of how many it sold.

Also if you notice the other's said it was specific to certain games, not the console on the whole.

No matter what one or 2 vocal PS3 bashers state it is more reliable than any console on the market by leaps and bounds.

Mine too freezes on PES2008 demo, this has no reflection on the build quality of the console.

Are you taking about me there? As I don't 'bash' the PS3 at all, which I'd expect you to know, just that you mentioned my name in the paragraph before.
I only mention my PS3 broken in other broken PS3 threads, bar I believe one broken Xbox360 thread where someone tried to say the PS3 was basically bomb proof. My replacement PS3 has a dodgy AV Port too, but it's workable.

No, I am not that interested in your broken PS3 or your views on the console. The statement was aimed at the person I quoted (isn't this normally the case)?

You stated one or 2 vocal bashers of the console, I was just wondering who they were. I'm not one of them, I love my PS3 and use it regularly, however I'm not going to let people go on saying they don't fail when they do, especially as more people have commented on theirs being replaced lately.
It seems it's okay for Xbox360's to fail and be accepted, but not PS3's.

I am not knocking your right to say yours broke. Couldn't care one way or the other, anyone with broken hardware should bang on about it, else these underlying issues won;t get fixed. My statement was to the poster who said maybe we don't know the ps3's failure rate because of its lower cumulative sales figures. I stated that if the failure rate was close to 1/3-1/4 (obviously referring to the 360) then we would know about it regardless of the sales volume. Clearly the failure rates are in the region of tenfold in difference, which was my point to him.

Asking who the PS3 bashers are on the open forum, is akin to asking who are the MS fanboys, who are the trolls etc. We all know who they are, yet it will serve nothing to name people and start accusing. Believe it or not it was an off the cuff remark.

that is all.
