ok, after selling my old ps3 i bought a new one last week,
i found a back up of my old game saves on a memory stick and was wondering if anyone would know of a way to kinda hack them into working on my new machine

i've read in places something about needing to change the machine number thats stored in the save files, think maybe a hex editor or some such, but i dont know anything about that

has anyone managed to do this,

Not sure if I'm right but as far as I was aware if you have copied the games saves onto a USB stick, then you can just copy them back onto the new machine.

I think the problem occurs with data protected files which you probably wouldn't have been able to copy to the USB stick anyway.

I think you just put the USB stick into a USB slot on the PS3 and run the restore util to restore all your saves etc if you used the backup util on your old PS3.

Otherwise, you can place the USB stick into a USB slot and when it pops up as a storage device you click triangle and select view all and copy the data and it'll place it back into the game data folder.

Just copy the saves onto your new ps3, did it when I switched from my old 60gb to slimmer model, no problems. I think you should be fine as long as it is with the same psn id :)
