Want to play resistance 3 via co-op online with a mate. But looks like I have to download the patch as everytime I skip it, PSN signs me out so how am I supposed to play co-op with friends list.

Anyway patch is damn huge and I'd literally have to leave my PS3 on for about 3 days for it download my internet is about as bad as dial up for downloading for some weird reason, and im not gonna do that. Every other game like heavy rain or whatever with big patches I just skip them and opt out downloading and no issue. But looks like I have no choice here?

Is there any chance there is a link online (I've looked but nothing) that I can try download via my laptop and put on a usb then transfer over to ps3?

You won't be able to play online unless you download the latest patch. I don't believe there is any way of externally downloading the patches either so Im afraid that you'll just have to download it. The reason you can play heavy rain and other games is because you'll be playing in an offline state so therefore the update can be skipped whereas if you want to access the online section of a game on PS3 it will always need to be up to date.
Hope this helps!

Bought the game just after Christmas and it didn't need one patch but four. First is the monster at 696MB, second is 22MB, third is another biggie at 500MB and the fourth is 22MB (sizes are not exact but pretty close).

Unfortunately like SuperCrofty I have not heard of a way to download patches externally either. It would certainly make my gaming easier if there was I must admit.

Try downloading very early morning when most people are still in bed, it should be a lot faster then. I downloaded the four I mentioned above at around one in the afternoon on a week day when the kids are at school and most people are at work. It took around forty minutes for the lot and that is on a 8MB line which is hardly the fastest these days.
