OK, so I am new to the PS3 scene.

I have PSN+ and have downloaded Borderlands, Motorstorm, Lara Craft, Red Dead, inFamous 2 and Little Big Planet. I have physical copies of Black Ops, MW3, Uncharted 2 + 3, Final Fantasy 13 + 13(2), inFamous, Resistance 1 and have pre-ordered Black Ops 2.

I am wondering what other games are classed as PS3 essentials now? I'm looking at Heavy Rain but don't know anything about it, I WILL be getting GT5 also.

I mainly play on PC, but my mates and cousin use the PS3, hence the COD games.

I generally like most genres also, and I am open to new ideas and games, just not the mega latest games please...

Get Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Heavy rain is the most boring game I have ever played.

Uncharted 1 is still worth it though 2 is the best.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is also pretty good.

Look into the HD collections as there are some good ones there like Jak and Daxter 1-3, MGS 2,3 and PW and Ratchet and Clank 1-3. Also the PS3 Ratchet and Clank games.

Is Demon's Souls the first of those 2?

I am reading about how Heavy Rain is mainly quick time events...I may leave that one...

get both, they are completely different games in terms of levels, very similar gameplay, both excellent, personally i would play demons souls first as dark souls did improve a couple of bits but there wasnt much to improve really

simple explination is

demons souls is based around a central mission hub that you pick and choose which small(ish) world to go into

dark souls is one big open world but you have a choice which way to go and when

either way they are both excellent games (top 2 games this generation by some distance imo) but they are both very unforgiving, you do not get cheap deaths you get deaths you deserve and you need to learn from your deaths to progress, they are both very hard games (personally i found demons souls slightly harder) but both very rewarding

if you cant tell i rate the games very highly

more on topic,

uncharted games
MGS4
LBP2
heavenly sword
batman Arkham games
God of War collection
ICO/SOTC HD

but i dont see any rush to get a collection, the games you already have will give you 100's of hours if you actually play them, the games wont go anywhere soon

The story is really what makes Heavy Rain - if you're into story based games, then it's very good, if you're more of an action fan, then not so much.

Agree about Heavy Rain. Boring for me. For me, consoles are all about FIFA and driving sims. :) So maybe try Dirt 3 or Dirt Showdown? I actually quite liked dirt 2 which must only be worth about a fiver now.

I grabbed the demo of Heavy Rain, seems quite nice. Both game shops in my town are sold out...I shall grab it when I see it. Got Dark Souls for £15 and GT5. Sweet talked the nice girl behind the till into letting me have them both for £20 (GT5 was in the deal, Dark Souls not)

I have Uncharted 2 and 3, is 1 really worth it then, I was told to start with 2 as its better and what not?

If you're going to play 2 and 3, it's silly to miss out the first one. It's not particularly vital to the storylines or anything but it's a great game nonetheless and introduces the characters properly in the first place.

RE5 and 6.

If RE6 is anything like RE5, it's only worth playing on co-op.

Killzone 3 (Killzone trilogy out this month i think).

just started playing the multiplayer (warzone) on it and having a great time :D
